Hey there =)
Sometimes we struggle to find coffee well suited for cold brew. Here we keep it simple and help you choose.
Read MoreThe coffee industry is in trouble. Here’s how to support the coffee industry’s sustainability.
The coffee industry is thriving in Australia. So, it can often be difficult to recognise that the vast majority of coffee growing communities throughout the world are struggling to earn a living wage by growing coffee. The decreasing profitability of coffee farming in developing countries presents a saddening reality for families that are already struggling to maintain a comfortable standard of living.
As the current global demand for coffee continues to grow, the quantity of people wanting to sustain and invest in the industry at its roots is shrinking. Businesses are either looking to switch their sourcing to more profitable crops, or transitioning away from coffee bean farming entirely.
In order for everyone to benefit from coffee, we must establish and maintain stability in the future for farmers. And we must make sure that the people at the origin of production are properly cared for and supporting coffee industry sustainability generally.
Healing coffee means creating a coffee industry that is sustainable. And that requires narrowing the disparity between the farmers that work hard to create an exceptional product and the people that enjoy it. Behind the certifications and labels on the coffee products available in Australia, there are real people that have aided in their creation. It’s our job to give recognition to this community of workers and to understand that the information given to us by brands and retailers may not always reflect farmer’s realities.
At Coffee DRs we have direct engagement with the small coffee farms that we buy from. Because of that we are able to guarantee support for the families involved and help support the coffee industry sustainability and their own future in coffee growing. This is also crucial in helping us to continually enrich our understanding of the problems that are being faced currently by international growers.
Healing coffee starts with us.
